There is quite a big difference between the two. The most obvious would be the power and the tranny. The V6 is WAY more powerful. I test drove both of them back to back about 2 weeks ago and the V6 is outstandingly faster than the i4. You will be shifting a lot more often with the 6 gears vs the 5 in the i4 as well. If you are fairly well with manual transmissions, an added gear isn't a problem and it will actually be an advantage as it is race-inspired. 6 gears keeps you in the desired power band longer rather than having less gears further apart and pushing through the rpms at wider ranges.

If you are looking to drive around more casually, then the i4 with the 5SP is more than enough. Its 190hp/162ftlbs still scoots.

Personally, I really wanted to get the V6 6SP, but it was such a huge jump in price. The V6 comes with leather, and 18's, rear spoiler, HomeLink. I didn't want to pay for the other stuff that I didn't really care about. It killed me at first to step down to the i4 5SP, but its a lot easier to drive and it still has the looks and enough kick to scoot. I absolutely love the car!

In the end, its all up to you. The best advice would be to test drive both of them. That is the best way to go about it.

Good luck!

If you are going to go for high horsepower and put crazy amounts of money into the motor the K24 is a better motor. If you want to keep it stock get the J35.
There are some kids with turbo K24's stock sleeves, on 28psi, with 12.5:1 compression pistons, and forged rods making over 700whp. The K-Series is a way better motor for making fast. Nothing against the V-6 but its not a good motor to mod.

unfornately this k24 is a bit different form the K20a/k24a, alot of the parts that worked with those motors won't with this k24. Right now theres more parts for the V6 right now than the k24's for this car.

I honestly have done no research on the K24Z series. I do know that the K20Z is interchangeable with the K20/K24A series. The only part that you really need to be the same is the Head design. As long as you can bolt up a Full Race side mount manifold then its all good. Im guessing the head has the same exhaust ports and bolt hole placement as the old K-Series motors.

Plus you don't need to swap parts out of any K-Series. Weisco makes pistons and rods that fit both. So does JE. You don't even need a proper V-TEC head (unless thats your thing). There are K24 with the economy V-TEC head running mid 500hp.

And Im not bashing the J-Series. They are absolutely amazing V-6 motors. I should of bought the V-6. But they are not as strong as the K...
