My 08 Trannie broke already.

My 4 month old EX sedans AT started shifting to air instead of the next gear. Didn't even default to limp mode. Dealer sent tow truck to retrieve it. They ordered parts but reported to have never seen this failure before. We will see if this dose the trick on Monday. I know its a new model and they sometimes have early bugs but the transmission is a carry over part so I'm kind of surprised by this happening.
I have never had a Honda strand me before other than due to my lack of maintenance.
Hmmmm.

Did you do any "spirited driving" or did it just fall apart on its own?

No I was just puttering around town. It was really freaky. I figured the computer had lost its mind or something. Pulled over and "rebooted" but it continued to shift to nothing or no any higher than 3rd.
We'll see what this dose for it.
This is the second issue I have already had with this car on things that I have never expected on this model. The power steering pump that was noisy, finally got it swapped. This issue is surprising too since this AT is basically a carry over from the previous model.
Interestingly enough this is my first Honda that was built in Japan. An its had 2 issues under the hood already. My previous 3 only had interior glitches like seatbelt sensors, shifter coming apart and power antennas jamming up.

The dealership is being very accommodating to me for this. It will be interesting how big the problem is. Whether it is a solenoid failure or something bigger.

Sorry to hear this is happening to you. At least it's covered under warranty. Keep us updated.

Paul, sorry to hear about your troubles. Luckily the dealership sounds to be very accomodating. Please tell me you're at least getting a loaner car out of this!

Update: Thursday
Spoke to the dealer this AM, replacement solenoids arrived and were installed. Bad news it did not fix issue. Honda Engineers want whole transmission swapped. I imagine they will be taking it back to the factory and tearing it down for Failure Analysis.
Life is not all lost, they have hooked me up with a rental, I'm driving a G6 Pontiac. Its not my 8G Accord but it dose have a kicking Monsoon sound system.
I'm biggest fear is any issue that will be created by swapping the transmission out.
Will see next week when it all comes together.

I would prefer to have the whole unit swapped with a new one rather than opening up the current tranny and working on it.
