Yes, it good that they are swapping the entire unit. My big concern is what issues will they be creating with other systems and the chassis by doing this major of component swap. I will be on the lookout for any unusual sounds or noises etc. when I get it back.

Update,
Spoke to the service writer, new tranny arrived from factory and tech will start installation when current project is finished yesterday. It will by nice to drive my 8G again.

Update,
Two weeks to the day after the initial failure My car is operable again.
Final solution was the swapping of the transmission which was delayed further due to new tranny having a damaged harness from shipment.
Got to drive it briefly yesterday, everything seems to be working correctly so far.

One more thing,
I finally got to take it for a spin to the Oregon Coast this weekend. Noticed there was a banging in the right front suspension when hitting large bumps.
A nice call to the service manager got the dealer to come pick the car up and fix it. Everything seems to be back to the new car feel now.
I really hope this is the end of issues.
