2008 Accord Maint
Have any of you done any of your own maint on the new Accord. I have a Coup with V6 and MT. I was just currious how hard it was to do a oil change on it. I also was not sure if it used the same oil filter as the SI. The books at the store didn't list which one it was for the new Accord. It also takes a different weight oil which don't seem to be as plentiful on the shelves either. I just hate to take a car to the dealer for the simple things. I do have Honda Care so it might not be a bad idea to for record keeping to just have it done by the dealer. Would like to see what some of you others think....

Ok just went to the fram web page. Found oil filter PH, TG, DG all ending with 7317. Which I believe is the same a my 06 SI. They also listed a Fresh Air Cabin Air Filter CF10. Didn't have listed a regular air filter. Also just went out to take a look at the engine and it appears that the oil filter is a clear and easy reach. You can see it if you look from above over the left back corner. It don't look like it will be the pain in the a$$ to get to like on the SI. With my SI I had to twist myself in all sorts of directions to get my hand on it and be able to twist the filter enough to get it off then get it down and out from around the frame. The filter hangs straight down on the Accord V6 vice on its side like on the SI which might make changing it less of a mess.

Unless you have some sort of package where the dealer will do regular maintenance for "free," there's really no reason to have them do it. Unless you just don't have an area at your house to do the regular stuff.
Just keep a log of what you do and when, so if any warranty issues come up, at least you have a personal log. |

When I had my SI I just entered it all into the maint records on Owners Link. I still can do that and enter it into the log book and just put the recepts for the materials along with it.

Just got around to getting the Accord off the ground and taking a quick look. Well if you are a past 8th gen si owner and do your own oil changes at least if you have the V6 it will now be so easy. You can actually turn you steering wheel to the right and reach the oil filter from the side with ease! That dang oil filter on my Si was a pain!
