Engine Problem
I have a 2008 LX-S Manual I-4. A couple of days after purchasing the car I started to feel a weird sensation in the power delivery. It is stumbling during acceleration. I have taken the car to the dealership but they were totally unable to assist. They tried a number of part replacements and such but it did not work. The car always came back the same. Now they (meaning Honda Customer Service) are telling me the surging/stumbling/lack of power is an aberration of my mind and that "the car is working as designed" (that is a direct quote by the way). Also they told me that even though I have a complaint they would no longer do anymore to fix my car. Having a warranty obviously doesn't really matter when it is a difficult to diagnose problem. I have been in contact with couple of technicians that work at Honda and a second accord manual owner has come in with the same complaint. Also I was allowed to ride in another manual I-4 while the dealership was working on my car. It had that same problem. I have been unable to find a V6 with the same problem.
be warned. If your manual accord is showing the same symptoms Honda will not help you. They will insist that you are crazy and the car is working as designed. If you want the full story 2008 Accord Enigne Problems - K20A.org .:. The K Series Source . Honda / Acura K20a k24a Engine Forum go there. |

Got me I have a v6 and it seems to work just fine. I see on these forms that there are a number of people that claim that they have nothing but problems with their car. Same thing with the 06 - 08 civic si. I had a 06 and never had any of the problems that a hand full of people complained about. Could be the owners or the car hard to say. I know some people abuse their cars then do nothing but complain when something goes wrong to make it look like it is Honda's fault.

I have a 08 ex 2.4 manuel trans. It surges between 2800-4000 in second and third gears. Took it to my selling dealer and was told they couldn't duplicate it at 2500 miles. today I took it to another dealer, had the shop foreman ride with me. He felt it and checked codes and misfire counters. During this time, a 09 ex 5 speed came in on the truck, we drove it and it ran the same as mine.
He couldn't explain it but said he would check into it but it must be "operating as designed" my car has 5100 miles on it now in 3 months and if I don't get a solution soon. it's going to get traded. ![]() |

I called honda cust service and made a case on my car. I installed a K&N filter yesterday and noticed and BIG improvement with no surging between 3-4k. I will post back after a couple of weeks as to if the filter solves the problem.

It is due to the v-tec I'm sure but it almost feels like a miss, most noticable between 3-4k in 2nd and 3rd gears (manuel trans.) Riding in the pass. seat it feels like someone is patting the gas while accelerating. The K&N has made it run alot smoother and the wife says she barely notices it now.
I drove the car 120 miles last night and it does run alot smoother and you can heard the v-tec in the air box with the filter installed. ![]() |
