Reason for Dimming headlights

Did a little research, here is a plausible explanation for the dimming.

Honda to max out on mileage utilizes a very sensitive electrical load detection (ELD) device to keep alternator drag minimized.

This device communicates to the main computer allowing it to scale back alternator output to match demand.

Scaling back the alternator lessens the load on the engine.

When there is a sudden increase in electrical demand there is a lag between detection of the increased demand--communication to the computer--adjustment upward of alternator output.

This lag is the dimming we are experiencing.

There is most likely a honda spec on the length of time for the lag--some vehicles may be on the cusp or outside the acceptable delay range.

I am not a mechanic--not even close--my guess is that if you like me are experiencing a noticeable lag --then we may be outside of design parameters because of a fault in the ELD or ECM.

Honda may develop a software upgrade for the ECM that could further minimize the lag.

Hope this is helpful. If I have this wrong, please post a correction.

Battery

I hope it is an easy fix. On other Accord sites, some posters say a better battery solves the issue(until the battery wears down).I notice as well how small the battery is-so much left over room in the battery tray.
It seems Honda is cutting corners to save itself cost. I do not think they are doing this to maxamize fuel economy.Smaller battery, smaller alternator, etc equals larger profits.
