New Key
what do you guys think?
It's not genuine Honda (obviously) so the quality is not as great but it does the trick. I just don't feel like spending $70 something for an Acura key and do the conversion. The protective film is still on the Honda emblem so it looks fuzzy around the edges. ![]() ![]() |

My brother gave me this key, he got it from ebay, I think it was $25 shipped. just do a search for Honda Accord key or Honda switchblade key.
Once you get the key you just unscrew the only screw on the key and unclip to take the inside out. The fitment is almost perfect. I say that is because, not sure why, the trunk and panic button is a bit to the left. Then take it to your nearest friendly Honda dealer to have them cut the key. Some cuts it for free some charge a fee, I paid $5.50 for mine. the other method is to get a 2007 Acura TL key and then program the key. Haven't tried this but maybe you can just take the transmitter (not sure what it's called) from the valet key and swapped it with the Acura key. My brother did this with his Element key and it worked perfectly. Hope this helps. |

I guess I should be more clear. You're only taking out the "chip" that sends the signal from the valet key and then program the buttons. I haven't tried it yet probably not going to.

Really? coupe and sedan doesn't share the same key? I didn't reprogram my key at all. I just open the OEM key take out the internals and put it in the new key. |

I did experience my engine not starting at the beginning but not anymore, not sure if it's the key or not but the transmitter does sit a bit further back compare to the original key. |
