Geneva '08 Preview: Mitsubishi Lancer Prototype S

Thanks to a Carscoop reader who wishes to remain anonymous, the web has been blessed today with what appears to be official renderings of Mitsubishi's big surprise at this year's 2008 Geneva Motor Show in March. The Mitsubishi Lancer Prototype S is a 5-door hatchback version of the Lancer that looks to be a Ralliart version of a production car that's bound for the European market. Carscoop surmises that the car will appear practically production ready on the stand in Geneva, but no other official information is known.

While it doesn't sound like a 5-door Lancer is being considered for the U.S. market, it wouldn't be that surprising if Mitsubishi decided to field a direct competitor to the 5-door Subaru WRX in the States. After all, who doesn't want more practicality with their four-wheel power slides?
