2008 accord - Malibu ready to challenge.
2008 Chevrolet Malibu gets great reviews
November 12th, 2007 ![]() GM may finally have a winner on its hands to compete with the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. The 2008 Chevrolet Malibu is out and so far reviews of the car have been pretty good. Only time will tell whether the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu will live up to the reviews and sale expectation set by GM. “The Malibu’s wrapper, which we think melds the best of the Chevy Cobalt and Cadillac CTS, is world-class in fit and finish, and its sharp styling and chrome accents draw attention unlike any Chevy in recent memory (Corvette excluded). In its brief real-world exposure in our test fleet, it was not unusual to have passersby taking a second look at the Malibu. Even teenagers were intrigued by the car, which bodes well for GM and its future.” Bob Gritzinger, AutoWeek “The LT we drove came with a 169-horsepower, 2.4-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed automatic. Now, that may not sound like a terribly stirring powertrain for a 3,400-pound family car — and at 9.3 seconds 0-to-60, it indeed is not — but we have to issue credit for the 2.4’s uncanny smoothness of operation.” Steve Siler, Car & Driver “Overall, the feel of this car puts Camry to shame, though someone wanting as sporty a ride as possible in a mid-market sedan might still opt for the latest version Honda Accord." Paul Eisenstein, The Carconnection.com “I took a Malibu and the new 2008 Honda Accord out for a back-to-back comparison on twisting back roads and found the Malibu to be far quieter, smoother and more confident than the Accord, the car that set the mark for mid-size excellence for decades.” Mark Phelan, Detroit Free Press 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Gallery: |
