I tracked my first 2000 miles. I wanted to see how much mileage I could squeeze out of it.
80% highway 20% local driving. 30.9 mpg overall average. Low mileage of 22.5mpg, high of 35.9mpg. Tires at 36psi vs. 30psi recommended on LX-P. Highway stretches driven at +/-65mph. Moderate acceleration and got it into top gear is soon as possible. Typically by hitting about 41mph and then lessening throttle pressure so it move into 5th gear. Then continue to bring the speed up. Plusses + safety equipment/crash test results + comfortable on long trips + acceleration adequate (177hp-I4) + good interior space considering overall size of package + fuel mileage Negatives - road noise (Honda has a blind spot when it comes to noise attenuation) - headlights dim Last edited by HaiDriver : 09-07-2008 at 06:44 PM. |

I only had 1 fill-up so far. Averaged 27.7 mpg when calculated at the pump. 5spd 190hp-I4 coupe.
Not bad for mileage during break-in especially considering a few spirited on-ramp accelerations, highway cruising at 75-80, stop-n-go traffic, and 1st time owning a manual. I'm confident I'll see 30+ consistently after break-in especially when I can set the cruise control to 65-70. |

I have now put in two full tank fulls with the following results:
531 miles on 17.032 gallons for 31.2 MPG 542 miles on 17.228 gallons for 31.5 MPG Both tanks were 70% city driving. I drive a 2008 LX-P manual sedan. |

I put in tank number 3 tonight:
500 miles on 16.174 gallons for 30.9 MPG This tank was at least 80% city driving. I am surprised how consistant the mileage is. Tomorrow I am going on a road trip, mostly on back roads. I shall see what a little hyper-miling can accomplish... |

I have been getting roughly 28-30mpg 60% city 40% highway. I have the 2.4L 5 speed. I wish I could pull 35+ every tank like my buddy with the fit. I have been working on those hyper miling tendencies. If I could avoid rush hour I might get 30+. I usually only keep 3/4 of a tank. I shift around 2500-3000 and never keep the rpm below 2k (too low on torque curve).
