Undecided 08 Accord Coupe ex-l v6 MT or 08 s2k
Hello Everyone,
I've been on this board for the last couple of days doing a bit of research on the Accord v6 coupe MT. All the info I've found in here has been very helpful and it is really making it hard for me to make a decision on what car to purchase - 2008 S2000 or 2008 Accord Coupe EX-L V6 MT? I test drove the s2k the other day and I have to admit it was a hard beast to tame. I've never owned a MT car before but I do know how to drive one... but just not as well as most of you here. The s2k felt really notchy going into 1st and from 1st to 2nd. But a bit of that is probably my inexperience with a MT. I haven't had a chance to test drive the Accord because I have yet to find a dealership in Chicago that has a MT in stock. I would even try the i4 version, if that would help. However, my dealer says he can definitely get a hold of one from a few dealerships that are about 80 - 100 miles from Chicago. Is the v6 as notchy as s2k? Or are all Honda transmissions pretty much the same? So, I know that i'm posting in an accord forum but if you guys could try to be somewhat objective and weigh in on which car i should take this would be greatly appreciated. Keep in my mind the following factors: -I'm not a sesoned MT driver. -I live in chicago which just had a total of over 53 inches of snow this past winter. -I have a really short commute to work - less than 5 miles. -I really want to get the feel of a sports car - does the v6 coupe fulfill that? -Price isn't an issue because once isurance is factored in i end up paying the same for either car. Well that's that and I would deeply appreciate any input you current owners have. Thanks. |

S2K is super small for only car and would not be good in the snow! The Accord is a so different from the S2K. The V6 MT is nice! has plenty of power and would be much better in the winter. I would get a Civic Si before the S2K if I could only have one car.

Have never driven an S2000, but I've read it's the best shifter around. The S2K is RWD, and shifter is directly mounted to tranny, so doubt the FWD 6MT would feel any better.
Having said that, I test drove the 6MT, and I was VERY surprised how nice it felt. Much better than my RWD GTO. Short throws, and very precise IMO. Or mabye I'm used to the GTO one. You need to drive one. One thing I didn't like was the ultra short 1st gear; seems almost like low range. Take care. JC |
