you might get something more by changing the air filter in the box of the stock air intake. BTW, I am a newbie, what does PCM stand for? thanks!

As far as the turbo is concerned, I looked into the direct connect to the head solution, it would work if you placed the A/F sensor(wideband) on the down pipe. However you will be limited to internal waste gate turbos only.

Plus most intakes don't help much normally anyway.

Yes you can get better .
I am planning to do it on my accord my self. I will cut out the intake box and put an aftermarket cone filter. I will still have "the colr air front grille part" you are talking about with better materials to suck the air.
